CANDY OF LIFE
Located in the heart of Hamburg’s HafenCity, this project brings joie de vivre, art, and architecture into a compelling dialogue.
For clients from Cape Town, who have found their Hamburg residence in Richard Meier’s Strandhaus, a living concept was developed that unites international influences, personal passions, and iconic design.
At the center of the concept are artworks - not as decoration, but as identity-forming elements of the space. The project name refers to a playful, unexpectedly yellow candy sculpture. Color is deliberately staged here: as an accent, as a contrast, as a moment of joy.
The house’s clear, light-filled architecture forms a calm backdrop for a carefully curated selection of design classics. Icons such as the Wassily Chair or the Ghost Chair make confident statements. The Lovely Day sofa complements this composition with an inviting yet distinctly modern gesture, creating a place to linger.
The clients’ interests are perceptible throughout the entire design. Their passion for extraordinary automobiles - symbols of individuality and courage - flows subtly into the atmosphere, not in a literal way, but as a narrative layer of a deeply personal living concept.
In the bathroom, the Salina wallpaper by Manuel Canovas introduces a poetic accent that echoes the playfulness of the overall design. On the balcony, Dedon furniture extends the living space outdoors and reinforces the character of the home as a modern retreat in the middle of the city.
A home that does not seek to conform, but to tell a story - colorful, international, and with a sense of humor.
