GARDENS BY THE BAY

GARDENS BY THE BAY

When traveling to Asia, you should take a few days for the island and city state of Singapore. With its multicultural population, impressively diverse districts and special architecture and of course the "Gardens by the bay", it is a city with many different corners to discover. A visit to the Gardens by the bay is a must for everyone.

I visited Singapore on my trip in September 2023 and was impressed by the Gardens by the bay with its greenhouses, supertrees and the entire park, which is located in the heart of Singapore right next to the Marina Bay Waterfront and is a haven for young and old.

The Gardens by the Bay can be reached via the Bayfront or Gardens by the Bay metro station. You can combine this with a visit to the Marina Bay Waterfront and the Marina Bay Sands.

Take the time to explore the garden with its 101 hectares, its three greenhouses, the various themed gardens and the "Supertree Groves". The architecture in the garden is particularly special. The entire site and the buildings were designed by landscape architects Grant Associates and architects Wilkinson Eyre Architects. As you stroll through the different gardens, you will discover sculptures made of plants and large animals made of metal. Keep your eyes open, there is something new to discover at every corner, perhaps a monitor lizard will cross your path or a turtle will appear in the water. You should not miss out on a visit to the "Cloud Forest". This greenhouse houses a misty landscape with rare and protected vegetation. It is located in the Cloud Mountain building, a 35-metre high structure, which you climb at the beginning and then walk down through the different vegetation and biodiversity. Discover many different plants and marvel at one of the largest indoor waterfalls in the world. Afterwards, you can marvel at a wonderful display of flowers in the "Flower Dome" opposite. Embark on a journey through the plant world of five continents and discover rare magnolias and orchids.

The Supertree Grove is particularly worth a visit in the evening. The "Supertrees" are vertical gardens with a height of 25 to 50 meters and are a home to an exciting world of plants and flowers. End the day in the Gardens by the Bay with the Garden Rhapsody, a light show at the Supertrees, and then stroll through the illuminated garden towards Marina Bay to enjoy the view of the Singapore skyline. I came back from this trip with many impressions and would recommend anyone passing through to make a stopover in Singapore.
